MAN UTD'S SMITH SUFFERS AN HORRIFIC BREAK!
MAN UTD have now confirmed that Alan Smith has suffered both a Broken Leg and Dislocated Ankle, In an injury that Alex Ferguson has described as 'One of the worst he has ever seen in football'. The ENGLAND International originally came on as a Substitute in the 1-0 Fa Cup defeat at LIVERPOOL, but he was stretchered off with full time nearly approaching, after bloacking a free kick from LIVERPOOL'S John Arne Riise. Smith had appeared to full heavily on his left ankle and the inccident had caused considerable concern amongst the other MAN UTD players as he lay injured on the ground. Seven Minutes of injury time were then added because of the inccident, and it has now been confirmed that Alan Smith has gone to hospital after suffering the nasty injury. The MAN UTD Manager Alex Ferguson had gone as far as suggesting that Smith's injury is one of the worst he has seen in over 30 years of managment, and the injury now virtually ends the Former LEEDS Man's participation in the rest of the season, and ultimately the World Cup Finals this year. Ferguson told MUTV "He has broken his leg and dislocated the ankle joint. It is a bad one. He has gone to hospital, it looks very long term - it is one of the worst i have seen. I am sure he will be back."
NEVILLE QUESTION'S THE FA ATER PUNISHMENT
Gary Neville has hit out at the FA for finding him Guilty of 'Improper Conduct' for his celebrations in MAN UTD'S win over LIVERPOOL. The ENGLAND Defender was upset over the verdict, even though he hasn't acttuallyu been suspended and can still lead out his team in the League Cup Final against WIGAN on Sunday. Neville had made pointed celebrations to a large section of the LIVERPOOL crowd during the game, after he had been taunted by the travelling support during the game. Neville told the Club Website "I am extremely disapointed with the decision. I believe it to be a poor decision, not only for me but for all footballers. Being a robot devoid of passion and spirit is obviously the way forward for the modern footballer. I ask the authorities:'where is football being taken to'.". Neville is clearly fuming at receiving a Fine and warning to his future conduct, and the whole episode has sparked a major debate within the game. (HE GOT WHAT HE DESERVED!IF YOU ASK ME! - OTHERS WILL AGREE WITH ME ON THAT!)
FA CUP FINAL CONFIRMED IN CARDIFF
The FA have have finally confirmed that the Fa Cup will be held at Cardiff, and not at the proposed new Wembley Stadium as previously thought. The fa Cup Final takes place seven days before the Rugby Heineken Cup Final, which preceeds three Play Off Final games as there is now a heavy schedule for the welsh capital. The Millenium Stadium was secured as a back up option just incase the new Wembley Stadium had problems finishing in time, which is now the case. The FA'S Barwick told Sky Sports news "I can confirm today that this seasons Fa Cup Final will be held at the Millenium Stadium in cardiff on may 13. I can also confirm that ENGLAND'S Pre-World Cup games against HUNGARY and JAMAICA will now be held at Old Trafford. The Fa has taken these decisions after meeting with Wembley Chief executive Michael Cunnah and Multiplex's Managing Director Martin Tidd, following a site visit to the stadium yesterday (21/02/06). The Fa took the prudent step of booking the Millenium Stadium as a back-up option to Wembley last August, therefore allowing us to extend this decision as long as possible and giving Multiplex every chance of making the May 13 date. It is clear that while they have over 3,500 people working hard on the site, Multiplex and indeed WNSL are unable to give us 100 percent certainty that the stadium will be completedin time for the Fa Cup Final. Due to the magnitude of the Cup Final, we are not prepared to compromise or take any risks on the stadium being unableto stage such a significant event. We felt it was important to clarify the situation for everyone connected with the game in this country, especially for those teams and their supporters still in the Fa Cup. Multiplex and WNSL remain commited to delivering the stadium at the earliest possible date. I would like to emphasise that WNSL have a fixed-price contract with constructors Multiplex. The total project cost remains £757 million. We should remember that when finished, Wembley will be World Class and the Stadium - with its Magnificent Arch - will host many Cup Finals and ENGLAND Internationals for decades to come.
JOKE OF THE WEEK
Here is a joke that is doing rounds with Wba/Ipswich fans and players:
*ROB EARNSHAW GOES TO A NORWICH BURGER BAR AND ASKS FOR TWO WHOPPERS. TO WHICH THE WAITER REPLIES "YOUR THE LEAGUE'S BEST PLAYER AND WORTH £3.5 MILLION". HA! HA! HA! HA!
